Lower Limb Ulcers

Vital Information

Definition & Symptoms

lower limb ulcers are open sores/wounds, most commonly on the lower leg, that take more than two weeks to heal.

They are often caused by poor circulation from conditions like chronic venous insufficiency, but can also result from arterial problems, nerve damage, or other diseases.

Symptoms include pain, swelling, and changes to the surrounding skin like discoloration and hardening.

Dr Nathan Biggs will provide a comprehensive assessment of your ulceration and arrange appropriate testing and imaging to determine the underlying cause of the ulcer.

Treatment of the underlying condition causing the ulcer in conjunction with expert wound care can then provide complete wound healing.
